Nolan's Routine

This week Nolan turned 5 months old. He has changed in those few months.  I thought I would share with you a day in the life of Nolan in his own words or thoughts.

I usually wake Mommy up around 5:30 a.m. so we can have quality time together over a bottle and a diaper change. Then I like to take a short nap for about 1-2 hours until by big brother, Peyton gets up.
Once Peyton wakes up then I get to sit in the highchair while Peyton has his breakfast. I like to play with my guitar or pig in the highchair or suck my thumb or fingers.

When Peyton is done with breakfast my friend Miss T. comes over to our house and plays. She always give me a hug in the morning. Then it is time to play on the floor with Mommy and maybe my friends. I enjoy rolling around the most. By now some more of my friends have arrived. Sometimes I'm awake when they come and sometimes I decide to rest my eyes. Mommy takes all the kids that are awake downstairs to the playroom. The older kids love to run around down there. I will sit in my walker or lay in my pack'n'play. Sometimes if I cry Mommy will hold me and rock me to sleep. Then it is time to come upstairs and have a bottle and watch Sesame Street. All the kids line up the bean bags, pillows and sit down to watch Sesame Street. Mommy burps me then puts me in the excersaucer.

After Sesame Street the older kids have lunch and I get to play in the excersaucer. Once all the kids go down for their naps it is quality time with Mommy. Usually we read a book or play on the floor. I get sleepy around the time all the kids get up so Mommy puts me in the crib. By the time I wake up some of my friends have left and it is time for another bottle. Daddy usually comes home around this time and will burp me so that mommy can get the rest of the kids ready to go. At supper time I go back into the highchair while everyone else eats.  They tell me that soon I will be eating baby food but that hasn't happened.

Bath time is mainly given by Daddy. Mommy puts me in my pj's so Daddy can give Peyton his bath. That is pretty much how my days go here in Selby.

Wednesday Nolan went to the doctor and weighed 16 lbs and was 25 inches tall all of these measurements put him into the 50th percentile of kids his own age(Right in the middle of the pack). He also got shots for the first time. So Thursday it was good that I didn't have to watch any of my daycare kids because Nolan was feeling achy and wanted to be held the whole day.

Jason was at a church council meeting. So the boys and I we hanging out together. You could tell that Nolan was a little sore from his shots because he wouldn't let me put him down. While I was holding Nolan, Peyton turned and looked at Nolan and said,"Ouch." Then pointed to Nolan's legs. It was so cute how he raised his eyebrows.

This week we had some warm days and one of those days all of my daycare kids went home early. So Jason and I decided to take Peyton to the school playground. Nolan and I watched, we thought that we should stay in the jeep and watched the festivities from there.

Quiet time with Peyton
So we all have quiet time here at our house from 1:00 to 3:00. I let my older kids have a book and puzzle to do during this time. I have been letting Peyton take a book into his room. I put Peyton in his bed, pull the covers up, and hand him his book. About half way through "quiet time" Peyton starts crying so I head into the room to see what is wrong and this is what I see. Peyton has turned over his blue bench and put his pillow in the bottom of it for cushion and fallen asleep inside the bench. I thought this would be a one time thing but it has been everyday for the last week.

This was the first time Peyton finger painting.  Peyton had fun paint himself as well as painting on the paper. In the beginning I had to hold the little container of paint while Peyton place his finger in the container so carefully. Towards the end Peyton would grab the container of paint and dump it on to the paper and himself. Good thing everything comes off at bath time.
Peyton's finger paintings.

One night this week Jason was going to fed Nolan his bottle . Peyton stood right next to Jason with his arm stretched out up towards Nolan. This means that Peyton would like to hold Nolan. So Jason asked Peyton if he would want to hold Nolan and he said yeah. So we all went into the living room to see Peyton give his brother a bottle. Peyton sat and held Nolan for most of his bottle.

Do I look like my Daddy?

Saturday, January 15, 2011

Nolan has been trying to sit up all by himself. He is doing it with his pillow here. He will only sit up for a few minutes on his own and then he starts to slip out. Nolan also has been enjoying sitting in his exersaucer. Peyton and the daycare kids will come up to Nolan in the exersaucer and play with him the toys on the exersaucer.

Nolan loves being on the floor especially when he has his teddy bear with him.

Tonight we gave Peyton a haircut. Friday Jason went to get his haircut and brought Peyton along to see if Peyton would let the barber cut his hair. Peyton didn't want to sit in the barber chair so Jason was the only one who got a haircut. The next morning I found Peyton in the bathroom pretending to cut his hair with Jason's beard trimmer. So we decided to try trimming Peyton's hair and he did SO much better this time. He even held his head down so that Jason could trim the back of his hair.

While I was doing the supper dishes Peyton thought that he should read a book to Nolan. It was so cute I had to get a picture.

I just finished reupholstering our dining room chairs. Now I can easyly wipe them off after mealtime. Yeah!!!
