Road trip III:

Altanta to Selby

We arrived in Pensacola, Florida to go to our niece, Katie's baptism. While in Florida we took advantage of their wonderful white sand beaches. On the first whole day that we were there we went to the popular Pensacola beach.

Look, at me digging in the sand!

The sand was so soft. The kids  like swimming in the little pool that is just behind Nolan in this picture. Peyton was able to touch and it was relaxing for us not to have the wave knock Nolan down.

Sunday was Miss Katie's Baptism. Welcome into God's family.

It was a changelle trying to get all the kids looking at the camera but Mandy did a great job.

 Mandy and her goddaughter, Katie.

Later that night we headed to Navarra Beach to walk along the water and look for seashells in the sand.

What was I thinking.  That the boys would just walk along the beach looking for shells.  It was more fun going into the water.

 Does that look like fun?
Actually, you had to get into the water to find the big shells, which everyone at the beach seem to be doing.
At one point the boys got tired of the waves and here the boys are telling the waves to stop.

Look at the shell I found, Mom.

On the next day at Florida we decided to do some site seeing and headed to Fort Pickens.

Fort Pickens served during three eras from the Civil War to the Spanish/American War of 1898 and World War II.  This picture illustrates the building complex from the Civil War era.

 Do you see anything?

Maybe you see something Dad doesn't?

The black section of Fort Pickens is from the 1898 era.  Apache Chief Gerimino was a prisoner for a time at Fort Pickens.

 One of  Cannons.

This was the part of the Fort that was built during World War II to protect the harbor of Pensecola.

After walking around Fort Pickens we were all hot and decided to go swimming at a beach near the  Fort.
The kids had fun playing with their new toys from the Korhonens.

This beach was not as busy with people as the other beaches but the waves were alittle rougher on this day.  The beach was part of a National Park so the vegitation was kept natural.

The next day we went to the National Naval Avation Museum on Pensacola Naval Base. The kids loved playing in the children's part since they could touch everything and not just look at the planes and equipment.

The next day was the 4th of July and we headed to the beach with Linette. Chris and Katie stayed at home since it was to hot out for a little girl. We headed to Naverre Beach since that was the favorite of ours.

 Playing in the waves

We headed back to the house in the afternoon to spend sometime with Katie.
Hello, Katie how are you?

Nolan and Katie looking at a book.

Look at what I can do? I can put almost all of my fingers in my mouth.

Peyton and Katie playing on the floor together.

We headed to Milton which is near Chris and Linette's house to see the fireworks. While we were heading there Peyton goes, "I smell something. I smell fireworks." Jason and I had to laugh because we hadn't at that point even been around fireworks this year so how he knew that it was fireworks I don't know.

The next day it was time to say our goodbye and  head back to the Midwest. Thank you Linette and Chris for hosting us we had a great time with you and are glad we got to see you while you still lived in Florida.

It took us two day to get back to Worthington, MN to spend sometime with Jason's side of the family.
Uncle Jerrit took Peyton on the 4weeler

While eating supper Peyton was so tired that he fell alseep at the table.

Nolan playing with some toys.

We then headed back to Selby. Our niece Makayla came along to help with the boys while Jason and I finished packing and getting ready to head to Alaska.
